Laser Frame Alignment in Stockbridge, MI

You cannot see three millimeters. A vehicle whose structure sits three millimeters out of specification will start, steer, and pass a walk-around inspection, and it will also wear a tire unevenly, hold a slight pull, and behave unpredictably in a second impact.

Measuring instead of eyeballing

Our computerized laser measuring system compares dozens of reference points on your vehicle against the manufacturer's published dimensional data for that exact model. The result is a numbered report, not an opinion. We take a baseline before anything is pulled, check progress during, and print a final set of measurements to confirm the structure landed where the automaker says it belongs.

That printout goes in your file. If you sell the vehicle later, or if another auto body shop ever questions the repair, the numbers exist.

Why it matters more than it used to

Older body-on-frame vehicles tolerated a fair amount of slop. Today's unibody vehicles do not: the shell is the structure, crumple zones are engineered to collapse in a designed sequence, and the mounting points for airbag sensors, radar units, and driver assist cameras are all referenced off that structure. Pull a rail back to roughly the right place and the safety systems are aiming at roughly the right place, which is not the same as correct.

The honest answer sometimes

Occasionally measurement shows the structure cannot be brought back within tolerance safely. We will tell you that rather than take the job. A repair we cannot stand behind is not one we want in the community we live in.

Call (517) 945-2280 or stop at 401 N. Clinton and ask us to put it on the system before anyone guesses at it.
